INTRODUCTION

The journal aims to present the latest development and achievements in Engineering, Agriculture, Science & Technology research in Malaysia and overseas to the world’s community especially to stimulate and promote academic exchange between Malaysia and foreign scientists, engineers, and researchers everywhere. Original, innovative and novel contributions providing insight into the use of analytical, computational modelling as well as experimental research results are encouraged.

This journal receives research articles, reviews, and essential ideas areas such as;

Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Civil, Energy Management and Renewable Energy.
Agronomy, Soil Science, Plant Physiology, Plant Protection, Horticulture, Plant Breeding, Botany, Ethnobotany, Pesticide Science, Environmental Science, Weed Science, Aquaculture, Bio-Resource Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Precision Agriculture, Irrigation, Agriculture Economics, Agriculture Extension, Post-Harvest Technology, Agroforestry and Herbal Science.
Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology and Information Systems.

The EAST-J is edited by a board of distinguished scientists and researchers. The objective of publishing this journal is to strengthen academics and practitioners in various fields of research.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

The research article submitted to this online journal will be double-blind peer-reviewed by at least 2 (two) reviewers. The final decision of the acceptance or rejection of the article is made by Editor-in-Chief based on the comments given by the reviewers. Screening of plagiarism will be done utilizing Turnitin. The accepted research articles will be available online following the journal peer-reviewing process.
Once a manuscript clears the initial screening, it is sent for peer review. EAST-J practice a double-blind peer review for received manuscripts.

Reviewer responsibilities toward authors:

Providing written, unbiased feedback in a timely manner on the scholarly merits and the scientific value of the work, together with the documented basis for the reviewer’s opinion
Indicating whether the writing is clear, concise, and relevant and rating the work’s composition, scientific accuracy, originality, and interest to the journal’s readers.
Avoid personal comments or criticism.
Maintaining the confidentiality of the review process: not sharing, discussing with third parties, or disclosing information from the reviewed paper.

Reviewer responsibilities in regards to citations:

Recommending the addition of important or relevant published works that are widely available to the citation list.
Discouraging the citation of unrelated works.
Alerting the authors on the possible errors or misuse of citations whenever necessary.
Informing the authors on knowledge of cited works that have been updated or retracted.

Reviewer responsibilities toward editors:

Notifying the editor immediately if unable to review in a timely manner and providing the names of potential other reviewers.
Alerting the editor about any potential personal or financial conflict of interest and declining to review when a possibility of a conflict exists.
Complying with the editor’s written instructions on the journal’s expectations for the scope, content, and quality of the review.
Providing a thoughtful, fair, constructive, and informative critique of the submitted work, which may include supplementary material provided to the journal by the author.
Determining scientific merit, originality, and scope of the work; indicating ways to improve it; and recommending acceptance or rejection using whatever rating scale the editor deems most useful.
Noting any ethical concerns, such as any violation of accepted norms of ethical treatment of animal or human subjects or substantial similarity between the reviewed manuscript and any published paper or any manuscript concurrently submitted to another journal which may be known to the reviewer.
Refraining from direct author contact.

PUBLICATION ETHICS

Engineering, Agrotechnology, Science & Technology Journal (EAST-J) is committed to ensuring the highest standards of publication ethics whereas publication malpractice is strictly prohibited by all possible measures. Our responsibility is to publish original work of value to the intellectual community in the best possible form and to the highest possible standards. We expect similar standards from our reviewers and authors. Honesty, originality and fair dealing on the part of authors, and fairness, objectivity and confidentiality on the part of editors and reviewers are among the critical values that enable us to achieve our goal. EAST-J endorses and behaves in accordance with the codes of conduct and international standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics. EAST-J is committed to following best practices on ethical matters, errors, and retractions, and to providing a legal review if necessary.

EDITOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Editor’s Responsibilities :

The Editors are responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published;
The Editors may discuss with other editors or reviewers in making the decision;
The Editors evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors;
The Editors must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate;
The Editors should ensure a fair and appropriate peer review process;
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used by anyone who has a view of the manuscript in his or her own research without the express written consent of the author;
The Editors should guard the integrity of the published record by issuing corrections and retractions when needed and pursuing suspected or alleged research and publication misconduct.

The Editorial Board’s responsibilities :

The Editorial Board must keep information pertaining to submitted manuscripts confidential.
The Editorial Board must disclose any conflicts of interest.
The Editorial Board must evaluate manuscripts only for their intellectual content.
The Editorial Board is responsible for making publication decisions for submitted manuscripts.

REVIEWER ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Reviewer’s responsibilities :

Information regarding manuscripts submitted by authors should be kept confidential and be treated as privileged information;
Reviews should be conducted objectively. There shall be no personal criticism of the author. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments;
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that had been previously reported elsewhere should be accompanied by the relevant citation;
Reviewers should request to the Editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge;
In case, any reviewer feels that it is not possible for him/her to complete a review of the manuscript within the stipulated time then the same must be communicated to the editors so that the same could be sent to any other reviewer;
Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

AUTHOR & CORRESPONDING AUTHOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Authors’ responsibilities :

The Authors should submit papers only on work that has been conducted in an ethical and responsible manner and that complies with all relevant legislation;
The authors present their results clearly, honestly, and without fabrication, falsification or inappropriate data manipulation;
The Authors should endeavour to describe their methods clearly and unambiguously so that their findings can be confirmed by others;
The Authors should adhere to publication requirements that the submitted work is original, is not plagiarized, and has not been published elsewhere;
The Authors must certify that the manuscript is not currently being considered for publication elsewhere;
The Authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others this must be appropriately cited;
The Authors should take collective responsibility for submitted and published work;
A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Duplicitous or expressively inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour and are unacceptable;
Proper acknowledgement of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work;
The Authors should ensure that the authorship accurately reflects individuals’ contributions to the work and its reporting; and where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged;
The Authors should disclose relevant funding sources and any existing or potential conflicts of interest. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed;
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editors and the editor to retract or correct the paper.

The Corresponding Author's responsibilities :

Ensure that all appropriate co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper.
Give consent to the manuscript submitted for publication.
Manage any requests to add, delete or rearrange author names in an article published in an online issue.

COPYRIGHT ACCESS

Authors who claim ownership of the data being reported, along with the manuscript’s authors, may be asked to sign over certain publication rights to the journal through copyright transfer or a licensing agreement. Authors should be aware of and must abide by, the terms of these agreements.

ARCHIVING

Engineering, Agrotechnology, Science & Technology Journal (EAST-J) is published online with a frequency of ONE (1) issue per year. Besides that, special issues of EAST-J will be published non-periodically from time to time.

TRANSFER OF COPYRIGHT

EAST-J accepts manuscripts that have not been published elsewhere and are not under consideration for publication by other print or electronic media. The authors agree to transfer the copyright to EAST-J editorial office.

Local participants – RM100, International participants – USD50
(Fee is covering the administrative cost, format editing and plagiarism checking)

Journal Description

Engineering, Agriculture, Science and Technology Journal (EAST-J) is a double-blind peer-reviewed international journal published by UCYP Press, University College of Yayasan Pahang – Malaysia. The principal purpose of the journal is to publish scholarly work in Engineering, Agriculture, Science and Technology. Authors are encouraged to submit complete, unpublished, original, and full-length articles that are not under review in any other journals. All papers are subject to a double-blind peer-review process based on an initial screening by the editor criteria for evaluation include a significant contribution to the field, conceptual quality, appropriate methodology and clarity of exposition.
