Drawing on ecosystem theory and expected value theory, this research investigates how teacher-student and peer interactions can influence students' willingness to engage in deep learning, as determined by their self-efficacy and emotional value expectations. The study examines the relationships between perceived teacher-student and peer interactions, self-efficacy, emotional value expectations, and deep learning. A sample of 265 students from a Chinese university participated in the study. Research tools were developed using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) to test the research hypotheses. The results indicate that perceived teacher-student and peer interactions significantly impact students' self-efficacy and emotional value expectations, which in turn, influence deep learning behaviour. Self-efficacy and emotional value expectations mediate the relationship between perceived teacher-student and peer interactions and deep learning. The findings suggest that micro ecosystems can influence individuals' intrinsic belief values, which can, in turn, affect their behaviour. The study highlights the significant impact activities promoting such interactions can have on enhancing students' deep learning, innovation, and creativity abilities.
2023-02-28T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Noorzareith Sofeia https://journal.ucyp.edu.my/index.php/jels/article/view/190 The Implication of a Conducive Environment on Children's Development 2024-04-30T08:02:58+08:00 Mohamad Azrul Haron [email protected] Ainaa Nosri [email protected]
Environmental factors were often closely related to children's development. The environment must offer a conducive and constructive surrounding to achieve and enable children to develop holistically according to their age. However, some parents did not agree with the statement. They are willing to choose to work on top of everything rather than spend time with their children. Without them realising it, children were deeply affected by the situation that had occurred. Therefore, a study was conducted to identify the Implications of a Conducive Environment Towards Children's Development. A total of 64 respondents, consisting of parents, were randomly selected to obtain and collect data. This study aims to identify the level of parents' awareness, recognising the effects and importance of a conducive environment.

Also, to determine the relationship between the environment and children's development. The instrument used in this research is a questionnaire designed based on previous studies. The 4-point Likert Scale and the selection of yes or no answers are used in this research. The data obtained from respondents were collected and analysed using the Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS) version 26.0. Data were analysed in a descriptive form which consists of frequency, percentage and means score. The results of this study showed that the respondent, who is also parents have a very high level of awareness regarding the effect of a conducive environment on children's development. At the same time, the understanding of the importance of a conducive environment is also at a high level. Therefore, research has suggested several suggestions to help parents maintain a conducive environment and achieve the holistic development of children in line with their age.
2023-06-26T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Education and Literacy Studies (JELS) https://journal.ucyp.edu.my/index.php/jels/article/view/191 Challenges Of Early Childhood Education Teachers in Conducting The Classroom Online During Movement Control Order 2024-04-30T08:02:42+08:00 Ahmad Adha Muhamad [email protected] Amirah Nadiah Mansor [email protected]
Nowadays, many various challenges need to be faced by Teachers of Early Childhood Education to ensure that the teaching delivered is practical and comprehensive. This study aimed to identify the level of online classroom handling during the Movement Control Order by Early Childhood Education Teachers, identify the challenges of Early Childhood Education Teachers in conducting online classes and examine the steps teachers can take in handling online courses to reduce the difficulties of operating online classes. This study uses a quantitative approach and population. The sample of this study was randomly selected among Early Childhood Education Teachers consisting of 80 respondents of Early Childhood Education Teachers in Kuantan District, Pahang. The research instrument used in this study is to use a questionnaire. Researchers distributed face-to-face questionnaires and obtained respondent data using Google Forms. This is due to the pandemic season, which makes it challenging to get complete data face-to-face. The 4 -point Likert scale consists of 3 parts to answer each objective that has been stated and consists of a choice of yes or no answers used in this study. Researchers using Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25.00 was used to analyse the information obtained from the study respondents. The data analysed are descriptive, namely frequency, percentage and mean. The study's findings describe the challenges of Early Childhood Education Teachers in conducting online classes during the Movement Control Order. This study has shown that many teachers experience challenges in teaching classes online during the Movement Control Order. Yusof [email protected]
In the fourth industrial revolution, growth and value creation are thought to happen through innovation, adaptation to change and flexibility. Human capital is a critical factor that drives innovation ecosystem formation. To be part of this future, children must learn early to actively engage in innovative ideas through critical thinking, problem-solving and systems analysis, all of which are in high demand in the labour market in coming years. Online digital education that includes coding can help facilitate experiences for children that allow them to contextualise learning within an innovative environment. Even though Finland is a leading country in the world regarding digital performance and competitiveness, Finnish experts stress the growing need for future skills for working life: knowledge of sustainable development, digitalisation, and continuous learning. Experts stress that digital education starts at a young age. Finland's child-centred early childhood education system is one of the most impactful benefits for society. Playful methods for developing mathematical thinking, verbal and social skills embedded in multidisciplinary creative activities and creating equal preconditions for every child's holistic growth are at the centre of the national curriculum. Removing different physical or psychological barriers to learning leads to better utilising the potential lying in society. Kodarit-method concentrates on the premium educational segment, which includes high-quality teaching skills for teachers, a carefully planned curriculum, and a motivational pedagogical approach. This enables professional growth and provides skills for students, who are the centre of the pedagogical model. All the top organisations, including Kodarit Coding School in Finland, cooperate in developing these areas efficiently by sharing knowledge and examples of best practices and building a tech sector, society, and world where no one is left behind.
2023-06-27T10:28:20+08:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Education and Literacy Studies (JELS) https://journal.ucyp.edu.my/index.php/jels/article/view/195 Students' Reflections Toward Online Learning During the Covid-19 Pandemic: A Case Study of a Private Institution in Malaysia 2024-04-30T08:02:16+08:00 Aini Syahira Jamaluddin [email protected] Roney Saly [email protected]
The study aimed to investigate undergraduate students' experiences and commitment to online learning during the Covid -19 Pandemic.
